As a CRT you may find yourself booked into work during upcoming Book Week from 19 - 25 August. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate positive connections with school communities by participating in dress up days. With Book Week just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start sparking your imagination for Teacher costume ideas. Remember to have fun with costumes because the reaction from the students makes it all worthwhile.
To get into the spirit of the week, you can download free book week resources from the Children's Book Council of Australia. Just make sure you are dressing up on a day where Book Week is being celebrated. It would also be a good idea to have access to a book for the students to read that is in the theme of your costume.

2. The Day the Crayons Quit

A colourful fun book with a moral, the hardest part of this costume is choosing what colour Crayon to be. All is needed is a pointed tip hat and crayon body. Costumes can be made from plain coloured t-shirts, cardboard or material. We have included two links for templates - Hat - Costume
3. Harry Potter

The easiest look in the book is to dress like a Hogwarts student. Just get a red, green, blue, or yellow tie with a matching scarf, partnered with a white collared shirt, a knitted vest, black pants and you're immediately recognizable as Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff. Wands of course are compulsory to finish the wizard look!
4. Where’s Wally

Popular for decades, this book is well known, fuss free and comfortable costume to wear all day. Pair a red and white striped beanie and long sleeved t-shirt with blue jeans to create a simple but effective look. Accessorise with round eyed glasses, a walking stick and black runners to complete the look.
