Anaphylaxis Training for School Staff

Free Anaphylaxis training for all school staff from the Department of Education

In 2015 the Department of Education moved to an online model for anaphylaxis training and recommended that all Victorian school staff undertake the course. The course, delivered by The Asthma Foundation of Victoria and accepted under Ministerial Order 706. This recommendation is now mandatory for all staff employed directly with schools.

Casual Relief Teachers and Support Staff are also required to complete this training every 2 years.

To access the course you will need to create an account and then click on ASCIA anaphylaxis e-training VIC 2024, then the blue 'Enrol me' Button at the bottom of the page. Once the course has been completed please email the signed certificate of competency document to Katrina - info@yourteachingagency.com.au

Course Competencies

There are 2 components to the anaphylaxis trainging course, the online component must be completed in conjunction with practice using adrenaline autoinjector trainer devices.

Competency in using the devices must be assessed within 30 days of successfully completing the online course. All schools should have an Anaphylaxis Supervisor who is qualified to assess the correct use of adrenaline autoinjector practice devices.

Injectable Devices

An EpiPen and Anapen are auto injectable devices that deliver the drug epinephrine. They are used when someone is experiencing a severe allergic reaction.
