We often get asked what is required of Interstate or Overseas Teachers, and how can they register with the VIT. If a teacher has registration in another state, they may be able to apply for mutual recognition.
Teachers who are registered interstate or studied overseas are required to provide additional information when applying to the VIT.
Applying for Mutual Recognition
If the teacher holds teacher registration interstate, they may be eligible to obtain VIT registration.

Overseas Applicants
Applicants who have completed their degree outside of Australia, may apply for VIT registration. The type of registration depends on their teaching experience.
Overseas teachers are eligible for registration via mutual recognition if they have an appropriate qualification. To qualify they must have completed at least 80 days of teaching in the pas 5 years and completed a 4 year degree.
English language Test
