Generally, if you are asked about teaching practical lessons as a CRT you will need to be qualified. This is at the discretion of the Principal of each school. Every effort is made to place the correct teacher in each class based on teaching methods. This isn't always possible for certain year levels so on occasion we may ask you to take a practical class.
We work closely with our schools and we normally know the subjects that you will be taking before you attend. We will either discuss this with you via a phone call or list the subjects in the booking notes.
If you arrive at a school and you are notified that you are taking a practical lesson that you are not qualified to teach, please let the daily organiser know. If you are unable to discuss this with the daily organiser please let us know and we will contact the school.
This only applies to practical lessons. CRTs, as long as they have VIT registration, are qualified to teach in any classroom from P-12. We will only ask you to teach practical lessons if you are comfortable teaching them.
If you have a teaching method in a practical subject, eg. PE, Wood/Metal/Systems/Auto, Food, Dance, Drama, Art, etc, or a specialist subject, (including VCE), eg. Specialist Math, Chemistry, Physics, Science, or any other subject that has a practical element to it, we will need a copy of your academic transcripts. More often our partnered schools are requesting teachers to cover specialist subjects or practical based lessons. Having this information will help us when making bookings.
